Words Mean Something (2)

Here’s something I read a few weeks ago. What say you about wisdom or life lessons?

I am young in years, and you are aged; therefore I was timid and afraid to declare my opinion to you. I said, ‘Let days speak, and many years teach wisdom.’ But truly it is the spirit in a mortal, the breath of the Almighty, that makes for understanding. It is not the old that are wise, nor the aged that understand what is right. – Elihu son of Barachel (Job 32:6-9 NRSV)

That is one of my favorite verses.
I say Elihu is correct. It is the spirit in us. The breath of the Almighty in us.
Life lessons is not a guarantee that we will get wiser. We are human. We will continue with something and teach it to others if it is just based on lessons.
However, the spirit, the breath of the Almighty gives us understanding about life lessons. And if we accept that understanding and repent, like Job did then we are wiser and the Lord accepts our plea for forgiveness.
Elihu was even wise enough to listen first. He didn’t just assume he knew, but when he realized that the friends were wrong he spoke.
