Sheep and Goats (1)

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20 ESV

The last few years, it seems discipleship has been revived – at least the discussion of what it means to be a disciple.  Perhaps discipleship discussions have always taken place.  But the last few years has seen a huge incline in books published and general discussions regarding what Jesus commanded.

In a familiar text (Matt 25), Jesus distinguishes believers (sheep) from unbelievers (goats).  The distinction is based on what they do rather than on any other thing.  Have you thought much about discipleship?  What’s your role?

I hope you’ll hang with us the next few weeks as we discuss what Jesus had in mind.
